Being outside all day for work and spending time in nature aren’t the same thing, even when you are lucky enough to get to work at a place as beautiful as I do.

Today I spent some time in nature.

I also visited a spot close to where I’ve lived for 25 years for the first time and feel embarrassed now to admit that.

Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area near Coos Bay is very special and about a 40-minute drive from Coos Bay.

There is a more famous Silver Falls in Oregon (I’ve also NOT been there) and Dr. C.B. Golden is the namesake of Golden Falls.  

Early homesteaders used the river valley as a way to get back and forth from the Coast to the interior of the state along what had to be a very dangerous road.

Next time I go I’d hike the paths in the opposite order I did today…hike the lower path to Golden Falls, then double back to the upper path to the top, back to the parking lot for lunch and then finish with the lower path to Silver Falls last.
