My favorite TV show of all time is The Sopranos.
It is not saying much and there are other shows that have approached and maybe even surpassed it over the years (The Wire, Mad Men and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia come to mind).
I’m old enough to have rented the first and second seasons of The Sopranos on VHS. My brother and my best friend Keith and I watched them as fast as we could usually finishing a tape and rushing to the video store to return the one we had and to get the next one.
A family HBO subscription became a must have after that.
My brother recored seasons 3 and 4 for me and would mail them to me so I could watch them.
We lived together for the last two seasons and watched them as they aired.
We thought our TV broke when the finale went to a black screen with a lack of a “resolution”.
My emotional attachment to the characters has kept me from being able to rewatch the show since it has been off the air.
Tony makes my stomach turn now and I’m upset with myself for rooting for him all those seasons.
And I think that is the genius of the show.
Inkworks released a card set for season 1 of the show. I enjoy pop culture cards almost as much as baseball cards and sent a good stack of the Sopranos cards in to PSA to be graded recently.
It is a low population set with very few GEM10s giving so I was happy with the results.
